Quick Tip! : Human Crêpe
One of my colleagues recently shared a collaborative brain break she used in her middle school health class called “Human Taco.” It sounded like so much fun that I decided to give it a French twist—and voilà, the Human Crêpe was born!
What Is the Human Crêpe?
It’s a quick, silly, and interactive activity that gets students moving, laughing, and learning—all while reinforcing food vocabulary and cultural connections.
Here’s how it works:
Give each student a crêpe ingredient on a card—like une crêpe, du sucre, du chocolat, de la cannelle, etc.
Students must find others in the room to form a complete crêpe by combining ingredients.
Once they’ve formed a group, they shout (or whisper dramatically): “Nous sommes une crêpe !” or “J’ai faim!”
It’s perfect as a brain break, a time-filler, or a random grouping strategy. Students get to move around and collaborate. It reinforces vocabulary in a fun, memorable way. It introduces students to cultural foods in a hands-on format. Play more than one round and have students go around trading cards until you yell “Je veux une crêpe!” as a signal to find a group.
BONUS: Reuse the cards to play the game Spoons. Students have to get a complete crepe set before grabbing a spoon.

The Human Crêpe is a sweet way to mix movement, language, and culture!
